Nicholas S. Schorsch
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Schorsch currently serves as a director and Chief Executive Officer of American Realty Capital Healthcare Trust (“ARC Healthcare Trust”). He is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of American Realty Capital (“ARC”), a full-service real estate advisory firm that was formed in 2007. ARC is the parent company of Realty Capital Securities, LLC (“RCS”), Member FINRA/SIPC, a registered broker-dealer with an open architecture platform in the direct investment space. He holds executive management positions for multiple non-traded direct investment offerings which include, American Realty Capital Trust I, II and III, American Realty Capital New York Recovery REIT, Business Development Corporation of America and American Realty Capital Retail Centers of America, all of which are distributed by RCS and sponsored by ARC. From September 2002 until August 2006, Mr. Schorsch served as CEO of American Financial Realty Trust ("AFRT") (NYSE: “AFR”), which he took public in 2003. Mr. Schorsch served as CEO and President of American Financial Resource Group (“AFRG”) from 1995 to 2002. AFRG is AFRT’s predecessor and a private equity firm founded for the purpose of acquiring operating companies and other assets. Through AFRG and its successor corporation, AFRT, Mr. Schorsch has executed in excess of 1,000 acquisitions, acquiring both businesses and real estate property with transactional value of approximately $5 billion. Mr. Schorsch was dubbed the “Banker’s Landlord” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and is the recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2003 award for the greater Philadelphia area, and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award for real estate in the greater Philadelphia area. He also served on the board of NAREIT from 2005 to 2006.
President & Chief Operating Officer
Michael Weil was appointed President of American Realty Capital in February 2012. In his new role, Mr. Weil will continue to uphold the company’s industry best practice standards and basic principles of risk diversification specific to net lease strategies, which targets real estate triple net leased, long-term, to primarily investment grade and credit worthy tenants, thereby providing strong risk-adjusted returns to investors. Mr. Weil will maintain an active leadership role with Realty Capital Securities (“RCS”), American Realty Capital’s affiliated broker dealer, as its Chairman and CEO. In this capacity, Mr. Weil will continue to provide strategic planning, management and operational oversight for the broker dealer and its team of experienced securities professionals.
Prior to assuming the helm of RCS, Mr. Weil served as Executive Vice President of American Realty Capital, where he was integral in sourcing and originating investment opportunities for American Realty Capital sponsored investment programs.
Mr. Weil was formerly Senior Vice President of Sales and Leasing for American Financial Realty Trust (“AFRT”) where he was responsible for the disposition and leasing activity for a 37.3 million square foot portfolio. During his tenure at AFRT, his division increased occupancy and portfolio revenue through the sale of over 200 properties and leasing of over 2.2 million square feet, which greatly increased shareholder value.
Mr. Weil serves as President-elect and a member of the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Investment Securities Association (“REISA”), the leading alternative investments association providing education, networking and advocacy for members.
Thomas P. D'Arcy
Chief Executive Officer, American Realty Capital Healthcare Advisors, LLC
Mr. Thomas P. D'Arcy joined American Realty Capital as the Chief Executive Officer, American Realty Capital Healthcare Advisors, LLC in May 2012. Prior to joining our team, he served as the President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Grubb & Ellis Company. Mr. D'Arcy currently serves as the the non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Inland Real Estate Corporation (NYSE: IRC), since April 2008; where he has also been an independent director since 2005. Mr. D’Arcy has over 28 years of experience acquiring, developing and financing all forms of commercial real estate including extensive experience in medical related real estate through the development of medical office buildings, significant involvement with Grubb & Ellis's Healthcare REIT and Grubb & Ellis's Healthcare Practice Group. He previously was a principal at Bayside Realty Partners, a private real estate company focused on acquiring, renovating, and developing income producing commercial real estate primarily in the New England area. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. D’Arcy was President and Chief Executive Officer of Equity Investment Group, an $800 million private real estate investment trust owned by an investor group, which included The Government of Singapore, The Carlyle Group and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Prior to his tenure with Equity Investment Group, Mr. D’Arcy was the Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bradley Real Estate, Inc., a Boston-based real estate investment trust traded on the NYSE, from 1989 to 2000. Mr. D’Arcy is a graduate of Bates College receiving his BA, is a licensed real estate broker and has received the National REIT Executive of the Year award. Mr. D'Arcy is married to his wife, Joan and they have four children: Patrick 22, Daniel 21, Meghan 16, and Molly 14.
W. Todd Jensen
Executive Vice President & Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Jensen currently serves as Executive Vice President & Chief Investment Officer of ARC Healthcare Trust. He has been in the real estate industry for 20 years, specializing primarily in healthcare properties. Most recently he helped build the healthcare real estate development and acquisition business at DASCO, a national leader in the development, financing, leasing and management of medical office buildings and outpatient facilities. There he established relationships with hospitals and health systems representing $300 million in potential development. Prior to that, Mr. Jensen was a Healthcare Partner at Lauth Property Group, where he led and managed the national Healthcare Group with complete financial responsibility for the business. He grew the business from a start-up to the 8th largest medical development business in the nation with more than $150 million of annual sales. Mr. Jensen established six regional offices and recruited, developed and managed a staff of 42 professionals. At the Hammes Company, a recognized leader in the health care industry, he was a partner and established the Mid-Atlantic office. He also initiated and managed relationships with senior management of client organizations and investment/capital partners.
Peter M. Budko
Executive Vice President
Mr. Budko currently serves as Executive Vice President of ARC Healthcare Trust. Mr. Budko founded and formerly served as Managing Director and Group Head of the Structured Asset Finance Group, a division of Wachovia Capital Markets from 1997 to 2006. As head of this group, Mr. Budko had responsibility for a diverse platform of structured financial and credit products, including commercial asset securitization; net lease real estate financing and acquisitions; structured tax free asset exchange solutions and qualified intermediary services for real estate exchange investors. While at Wachovia, Mr. Budko acquired over $5 billion of assets. From 1987 to 1997, Mr. Budko worked in the Private Placement and Corporate Real Estate Finance Groups at NationsBank Capital Markets (predecessor to Bank of America Securities), becoming head of the Corporate Real Estate Finance group in 1990. Within the Private Placement group, Mr. Budko was responsible for the origination, structuring and placement of highly structured debt offerings by corporate issuers within NationsBank. Throughout his 25 year financial career, Mr. Budko has developed significant knowledge and experience with the underwriting, financing and placement of a wide variety of complex and structured corporate debt, equity and real estate structures.
Vice President, Acquisitions
Mr. Sanders joined American Realty Capital as Vice President of ARC Healthcare Trust in January of 2013. Before joining ARC, he worked for Senior Living Investment Brokerage, one of the largest brokerage firms specializing in Seniors Housing transactions. In the course of his career, he has valued and sold all levels of senior housing facilities for owners and operators across the country. Prior to his time with Senior Living Investment Brokerage Mr. Sanders lead a management team operating 22 apartment buildings in the St. Louis area. He is a licensed real estate broker in multiple states, and attended University of Kansas where he earned a business degree in management and marketing. He will be working out of St. Louis, Missouri.
